95 POINTS - International Wine Report: The 2020 Woodward Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is a knockout wine and an incredible value. With a composition of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 4% Merlot and small amounts of Syrah, Barbera, and Dolcetto, this wine hits all the right notes. Spending 22 months in 39% new French and Hungarian oak and violet in color, it possesses a nose of cherry and cola. As with all the 2020 reds I tasted from this winery, it possesses a plush, mouthcoating, and velvety entry. Black raspberry, Chambord, licorice, and sweet tar are all jumping from the glass from the get-go. With great depth and body, this wine is able to shift gears seamlessly and does so in a seductive and sexy way. As it sprints towards a 45-second finish, prune and fig paste emerge late in the game. This may be the best vintage in the past decade of this cuvee, which is saying quite a bit about how much I enjoyed this wine. Give it a year or two of cellaring and then enjoy it over the next two decades.
93 POINTS - Owen Bargreen: The 2020 ‘Artist Series’ is a flat-out fabulous blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon with the remainder Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and a touch of Syrah, Dolcetto, and Barbera. The resultant blend is an outstanding wine that was stored in mostly new French oak before bottling. On the nose, this takes on toasty oak with black currants, Turkish coffee, and dark chocolate shavings. Showing deep concentration and a silky texture, this blend really makes Petit Verdot shine with its massive blue fruits, light green herbs, and tannins. Drink 2022-2035
92 POINTS- Vinous: The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is dusty and youthfully coy on the nose, lifting from the glass with a bouquet of wild blueberries, sage and mint. It's silky and texturally deep on the palate with tart wild berries and mineral nuances that balance as savory herbal tones collect toward the close. A coating of fine tannins lingers as the 2020 tapers off with a spicy twang and classic feel, leaving licorice and tobacco notes lingering on. The Artist Series Cabernet is refined for 20 months in a combination of new French and Hungarian oak. By Eric Guido on October 2022

90+ POINTS - Jeb Dunnuck: Blackcurrants, plums, toasted spice, iron, and lots of leafy herb and meaty notes emerge from the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series, a more medium to full-bodied, complex, yet quite herbal effort. It has fine tannins and good concentration and should benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age.
