This 2020 Walla Walla Valley Estate Merlot - Cabernet Franc was crafted as a collaboration between Vineyard Manager and Second Generation Owner, Sager Small, and Winemaker, Kevin Mott. Sager wanted to produce a special bottle to celebrate the birth of his daughter, who arrived just in time for the 2020 harvest. In essence a field blend created from two adjacent blocks at our Estate Vineyard, this wine is 75% Merlot Northeast Block and 25% Cabernet Franc Clone 214. Sager, a longtime appreciator of Cabernet Franc, wanted to show its subtle fruit and savory character while using the tannin and body of the Merlot to create a balanced, nuanced wine more than capable of cellaring. This wine saw no new oak, so the typicity of each grape and unique locale are allowed to shine. Dedicated to the daughters.
